1.  Objectives

  • make ecclesiastical studies easily accessible to the general public
  • disseminate knowledge to a greater number of seekers in a non-seminary context
  • impart ecclesiastical studies with a harmonious synthesis of Indian, Eastern, and Western genius
  • promote mature Christian leadership among the laity through intellectual and faith formation
  • help people of other faiths to know Christianity and its basic world view

3. Target Groups

  • Open to all persons, especially, to catechism teachers, youth, professionals, employers, preachers, lay ministers, etc.,

4. Eligibility and Admission

  • degree from a recognised College/University
  • registration for the PG diploma courses begins on 3rd July 2007
  • Application Form: PDF File (Please send the printed version of the Application Form by post)

5.  Structure of the Courses

  • Each diploma programme consists of 40 credits including a research paper.
  • 80% of the study can be undertaken through Online/Correspondence and 20% through contact classes and practical sessions.
  • Upon registration, the student will be provided with course materials for the first part, i.e., for 20 credits, and after the successful completion of these credits the course materials for the final 17 credits will be given.
  • Apart from courses of 1, 2 or 3 credits, at the completion of courses the student will submit a research paper on a relevant theme, approved by the coordinator of the concerned course, and this research paper will carry 3 credits.
  • The research paper shall be written concurrently with the second part of the course. The length of the research paper shall be between 10,000 and 15,000 words.
  • The format of the Research Paper need not be in a bound book form but typed neatly according to proper methodological style.

6.  Fee Structure

  • Fee for any One Year Diploma Course including the course materials  = Rs. 4800/- (for India); $ 450 (for other countries)
  • Merit scholarships are available for deserving students.
  • Total amount is to be remitted to DVK office by Demand Draft at the time of registration. The Demand Draft is to be drawn in favour of “Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, Bangalore.”

7. Evaluation Methods and Awarding of Marks

  • Each of the courses in a discipline will have the following pattern of evaluation: 1) Written Assignment/Project/Case Study = 50%; Attending Contact classes = 25%; Objective Type Examination/Viva =25%.
  • Online/electronic submission of the written assignments is encouraged. Printed or hand-written assignments can also be submitted.
  • Contact classes and/or practical sessions will be arranged periodically and the student will have to appear for objective/viva examinations.
  • The total marks awarded are set as follows: 10 Marks per credit, i.e., the total of 37 credits would carry, 37x10 = 370 marks; Contact Classes = 37x5 = 185 marks; Objective examination/Viva = 37x5 = 185 marks; and Research Paper = 60 marks and total marks = 370+185+185+60 = 800 marks.

10.   Awarding of Diploma

  • Diploma will be issued from DVK on the successful completion of the Course with 50% aggregate marks.
  • Pass grade for each individual subjects will be 40%.
  • Upon request and payment of the required fees, a PG Diploma Certificate will be sent by post to successful candidates.
